I was asked to create a mural for Walmart store in Keller, TX located north-east of Fort Worth. The mural celebrates Keller's rich railroad heritage, blending history with the vibrant energy of the city’s present. Iconic landmarks like the water tower and city hall symbolize the city's growth and community spirit. The train and its flowing steam connect Keller’s past to its bright future, capturing the essence of a welcoming and thriving community.
Mural size: 11.8x12.5 ft. Vinyl installation, created in Adobe Photoshop.
Client: Walmart | Location: Keller, TX | Agency: Now Art, LA
The project was part of the Walmart Community Mural Program, a celebration of communities across America. Inspired by the community and together with every store manager, each mural reflects the local diversity and cultural references.
PROCESS:
My illustration process begins with the wall where the final artwork will be displayed. I take into account the natural light that will fall on the mural when planning the composition. The initial sketch for this piece was more detailed than usual, as a door intersects the artwork. I ensured that all elements fit well together while adhering to the brief requirements.
DETAILS:
The finished mural features numerous references to the railroad, with wheel motifs incorporated throughout the composition.
