This illustration project draws inspiration from the classic fine art tradition of depicting a reclining woman as the main focal point. While honoring that tradition, I gave it a modern twist: the woman, poised and calm, is entirely absorbed in her electronic device, oblivious to the extravagant feast, grotesque characters, and lively menagerie of animals surrounding her.
At the center of the composition is a woman who, traditionally a symbol of beauty and introspection, now embodies detachment in the modern age. Around her, a vibrant scene teeming with grotesque characters and a wild mix of animals, all lost in self-indulgence. The stark contrast between her calm indifference and her opulent surrounding highlights themes of excess, distraction, and disconnection, evoking reactions that are both humorous and unsettling.
With this piece, I invite the viewer to explore a surreal yet familiar world where presence is overshadowed by technology.
